It’s important to remind yourself that no matter how many disappointments you face or how many times you fail, you just have to pick yourself up and keep working towards your goals. If you do, eventually your successes will outweigh your failures and you will accomplish the goals you set for yourself. It took me two semesters at OSSM to learn this, but I know I will never forget it.
Ope O., OSSM Class of 2017 (Oklahoma City, Putnam City North H.S.)
OSSM has introduced me to a variety of different courses and helped me find my passions. The best part of OSSM is the community, and I am grateful to have met people that I will always cherish.
Jane G., OSSM Class of 2022 (Stillwater H.S.)
OSSM has been an amazing experience for me. Although the classes are challenging, they interest me and stimulate my mind in ways that my home school never could. However, the community has had the most profound impact on me; it is clear to me that wherever I go, I will never meet people or have a community quite like the one at OSSM.
Catherine T., OSSM Class of 2019 (Edmond, Santa Fe H.S.)
At OSSM, I learned leadership and responsibility. Gaining knowledge went from a task that ought to be done to a joy that shapes who I am and who I may become.
Rev. Sara Dillard Bodenstein, OSSM Class of 1994 (Weatherford H.S.), Mathematics Professor at OSSM
The past two years, I’ve had the privilege to help a team of doctors with Alzheimer’s research. I’ve learned a great deal from this experience, but most importantly, I’ve discovered that my curiosity for the way the brain functions is endless. I find that each piece of new information I learn leads to more questions that I want answers to. I am excited to learn more as I pursue a degree in neuroscience and prepare for medical school
Emily J., OSSM Class of 2018 (Sallisaw, Muldrow H.S.)
OSSM changes you in a way that you don’t initially see or realize. It’s only now, looking back on where I am and where I could have been, that I can see how my time at OSSM changed my life completely. OSSM challenged me academically, physically, and psychologically, bringing me experiences and opportunities that I could never have even imagined. These experiences are priceless to me; I would not trade them for the world.
Kai V., OSSM Class of 2022 (Moore H.S.)
OSSM gave me a competitive environment to learn at a highly accelerated pace, which is what I and most of my colleagues have been wishing for since the discovery of our talents in elementary school.
Jake C., OSSM Class of 2017 (Edmond, Deer Creek H.S.)
Being at OSSM can be challenging. Natalie believes that students must have grit to persevere through difficult times and make it to good ones.
“I chose OSSM because the education is so much more challenging than the one I could have received elsewhere.”
Career Goal: General Surgeon
Natalie W., OSSM Class of 2023 (Duncan H.S.)
There is a sense of security to be gained from similarity. At OSSM, however, I have found my best friends are the most different from me, and I relish in our unique approaches to problem solving. We all share in the ambition to better ourselves and the community we share.
Maggie Z., OSSM Class of 2017 (Tulsa, Jenks H.S.)
My first year at OSSM improved my time management skills greatly. It also improved my work ethic and has advanced my academic career much more than a regular high school would.
